By the time the 1940's came around, cocktail dresses where back in style and handmade by the women who wore them. Television made fashion even more wanted than before. But one of the biggest changes for women fashion were pants.

Pants were not sociablly acceptable until after WWII, before then. Women wore the pants to work in the factories. Even after the war ended, women continued to wear them.
Another huge thing that happend to fashion in the 1940's was that Paris fell from the fashion captial of the world, New York city became the king of fashion.
Minor fashion chages included women wore their hair longer, eyebrows became thicker, and heels started to become shorter with the introduction of the wedge.
